The Old Swan to offer 50 beers and live bands this August
The Old Swan Inn in Llantwit Major has announced its largest ever beer festival this August, a ten day spectacular of beer and bands coinciding with the Eisteddfod at Llandow Airfield in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan.
The first keg will be opened this Friday 3rd August with festivities culminating on Sunday 12th August, and the pub is issuing an open invite to ale lovers across South Wales to come and sample the fifty different types of beer and cider on offer for the duration.
The drinking list includes Otley Croeso Pale, Light Brecon to the Sea, Breconshire Dark Side and many more and the Welsh beer and cider line-up will be complemented by bands from the local area on weekends, including Seafall, K2, Captain Accident & The Disasters and Dan Fairhurst.
And if partying to live music doesn’t suit your taste, quizzes will be held on both the Sunday nights during the festival to put those brain cells through their paces.
Food lovers will also be well catered for with an exclusive festival menu on offer that embraces traditional Welsh favourites, including Glamorgan sausages, Welsh faggots, Perl Las stuffed mushrooms, Welsh ham hock terrine, Vale of Glamorgan chicken and leek soup and Friary Welsh Dragon sausages from the local butcher.
The Old Swan Inn’s manager, David Moll, encouraged everyone to visit the beer festival and join them for a week of beer and music: “We hold three beer festivals every year, but this is by far the biggest event we have ever held. And with the Eisteddfod taking place up the road I think the atmosphere will be incredible!”
The pub, which dates back to the 12th century, is just a short walk from the station, which is well-served by trains every hour from Cardiff and Bridgend. There is also a bus from the Eisteddfod to Llantwit train station.
